Starting Over

Empty coffee cup

Last night I sat on the sofa for an hour, typing my post for today. It was long and quite eloquent…trust me. I did something I SWORE I would never do again. I typed for an hour without saving any of it and, what happened? The FB app crashed and I lost it all! You would think I would learn this valuable lesson because I can never duplicate a post once it’s gone. They are original, one-of-a-kind essays. So, I’m starting over.

I needed coffee. Or something stronger. Since I don’t drink coffee after noon and since I don’t drink alcohol in years starting with a 2, I was forced to turn to the next best thing. Peanut M&M’s. Candy porn. Those sweet little crunchy nuggets of love! Sigh. I seldom indulge in chocolate anymore. But, I received these from a friend as a little “thank you”. I’ve kept them for just such an emergency as this. Everything can be cured with Peanut M&M’s. Trust me…I’m a writer.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with chocolate since I was a teenager. ProActive wasn’t a thing yet. I didn’t care. Chocolate was my friend. Chocolate didn’t make fun of me. Chocolate loved me unconditionally. In its sweet darkness, chocolate told me I had a friend. And then, glory be! Scientists found out what I’ve known all along. Chocolate is actually GOOD for me! See? Told ya!

While you may never read the amazing post I originally wrote for today, you will forever know what to get me for any holiday…ever…for the rest of my life. Peanut M&M’s. Oh, and coffee. Really great coffee! ❤️
