Portability

I’ve lived in a travel trailer for the last two and a half years now…about one and a half years were part time and now fourteen months full time. I took off mid-day and arrived at my campsite about 5:30. I had a lot of housekeeping things to do when I disconnected like emptying my tanks. It’s not the most fun thing to do but I don’t mind it that much. It’s a price you pay for living this lifestyle. I have electric where I stay in Denver. And I can fill my freshwater tank so I have water. But there’s no sewer connection. So, when the tank is full, I have to hookup and tow to a dump station. Since I was camping at an RV park last night with full hookups, I took advantage and did everything there.

While emptying tanks is a disadvantage, having your house with you when you travel is awesome. I pulled into a beautiful overlook this afternoon to use the facilities in my trailer. No public rest stop or service station bathroom! As I was preparing to go back out to the truck I thought, “You know…a nap sounds pretty good right now!” So I stretched out and took a little snooze. When I got up, I rummaged around in the kitchen and found a snack. Once I got here and disconnected the trailer, did my chores, and hooked up the utilities, I cooked supper. I went out to eat at the picnic table and some friends of mine walked by on their way to meet someone at the restaurant on the property. They stopped for a brief visit. That was such a treat! I enjoyed watching the clouds as the sun was setting. Then I went in and cleaned the kitchen and took a good, hot shower. Living like this is amazing. I am parked by a river, in a canyon, with eagles soaring overhead. I mean, really…I’ll empty a black water tank once in awhile to have this life!
