Ok…I’m going to vent a little. Sorry. 

We bought this camper in October. Brand new…never been used. When I was preparing for camping this spring, I discovered the refrigerator doesn’t work. Ok. These things happen. I took it in and they couldn’t get it fixed before my trip to Colorado so I brought it with…sans refrigeration. No big deal. That’s what coolers are for, right? Then…when I picked it up to bring it with me on this trip, I noticed a leak. They’re going to have to fix that. There is a glass cover that opens and closes over the sink that is attached with hinges. Every time I tow the camper, the vibrations cause the screws to come out and fall down in the sink and I have to use a special tool…which I do not own (I used Ben’s) so I’ll meet to get one and also see if they can do something about that. Maybe some sort of adhesive? Also, every evening when I stop to camp, the microwave has creeped it’s way deeper into the cabinet that holds it and I have to fish it out. At least it isn’t falling out on the floor! 

Add to all that, it has been raining since I hit Nebraska and it hasn’t stopped. Putting the camper up and down in the rain is a pain it the neck and the interior gets wet (including my bed, which I was non to happy about!) When I got the the park last night after driving six hours, there was one site left. A walk in. You get the registration from from the kiosk, fill it out, put half of it on the post at your site, put your money in the envelope and drop it in the post back at the kiosk. Well, one site, right? I wasn’t about to find the site, then drive back around to drop off the money, then come back again to back into the campsite. In the rain. And, I wasn’t about to walk uphill in the rain to drop it in. I called the reservation number, gave them my info and told them I am a trustworthy individual. I’ll drop the money off in the morning before I leave. I told her if that wasn’t good enough, she is welcome to send someone to knock on my door and I’ll be happy to give them the money.

I was on the phone straightening out my reservation for Friday night when there was a knock on the door. The nice man in the camper next to me asked if I knew I’d left the window down on the driver’s side. In the rain. Argh! I trudged out and closed it, fished out a towel and sopped it up as best I could, and came back in…soaked to the skin and cold. 

I believe we’ll be trading in the sweet a-frame and getting a free standing camper that isn’t so fussy. I’m too old for this ****! lol

Ok, I’m off my soapbox. Tucked in, listening to the rain. I had grapes and cheese and yoghurt for supper and I’m warm and dry under the electric blanket. First world problems notwithstanding, I am incredibly blessed and almost half way home!
