I let Little sleep in yesterday morning. I remember when my daughters were that age. They need to sleep because they’re growing and they’re busy cramming their brains full of new knowledge. I cleaned house and knitted till I finally woke them up to get the day going. We drove to town to visit our favorite antique shop. Little bought three neckties, a teddy bear and a necklace. Then we went to Michael’s to get some crafty things. They love art so we bought a new sketchbook and colored pencils and a few other things. I bought some green, red, and white acrylic yarn to knit some Christmas stockings for the kids.

We’ve had so much rain the last several days. We all went on a walkabout last night to watch the sunset and see if we could find the twin fawns. They didn’t disappoint…they were out grazing by the campers and we got some pictures of them. Someone posted a photo of a young black bear on the hill just above our house. I’ve been seeing bear scat in our field this year so I keep a weather eye out for him when we are out there…especially at night. You could walk right up on one and not even know it.
I was making breakfast yesterday when Mr. FixIt called me in to the living room. He said there was a huge turtle out in the yard. It turned out to be TWO turtles doing what turtles do to make MORE turtles. We saw bunnies and a big fat groundhog, as well. The whole menagerie was on display. I made a big pot of soup beans with smoked ham hocks yesterday and showed Little how to bake cornbread in an iron skillet.
We ended the day with Little sprawled out on the living room floor…drawing and coloring. I worked on the hat I’m knitting and we watched an old episode of Big Bang Theory. It was a really good day!
