Yesterday was a FixIt kinda day around Marshmallow Ranch. After a yummy country breakfast, Mr. FixIt had to replace the innards of the toilet in the main bathroom. We had a…ummmm…vibrant conversation in the plumbing aisle at Menard’s on Wednesday. I was firmly convinced that all the toilet needed was a flapper valve. He was equally firmly convinced it needed that filler thing-a-ma-jig. He was trying desperately to make me understand that the reason water was going in the bowl was because the filler valve wasn’t shutting off so the water was going down the overflow pipe. 

I am the first one to admit I am wrong…on the rare occasions that I am. lol However….when I went in to survey his work, there was the old flapper valve in the trash. I’m not saying maybe I was right. What I’m saying is, maybe when he got in there he thought he might as well fix everything. He always does exceptional work. And I’m always up in his business because I have this insatiable curiosity and I love to learn. Besides, it’s terribly important that I learn how to do all the things in case I’m left to do them alone again. 

While my counterpart was working on the plumbing inside, I was working on the plumbing in the new camper. I needed to get into that hot water heater and try to get rid of the rotten egg smell. I emptied the tank, but I wasn’t strong enough to take the pressure release valve off. Mr. FixIt dropped what he was doing and came right out to take it off for me. Once that was done, I replaced the plug on the hot water tank and poured about a gallon and a half of white vinegar in and added water to dilute it a little. It needs to sit at least eight hours and it should just eat up the calcium deposits in the tank. I’ll drain it and flush it several times today to get any sediment out. And that ought to do it.

Oh, and by the way, I stopped using the fluorouracil about five days ago to give my skin a little break and it’s healing up nicely. It’s as smooth as a baby’s bottom! I can’t wait to see what the new skin feels and looks like when it’s all healed.

I had a chance to knit a little in between jobs and the new sweater is coming along nicely. I brought my knitting out with me to the camper last night and enjoyed the night sounds while I got a few more rows done. My knitting friend Gail told me about something super cool that I just had to find. It’s called a “Raglan Knitting Wheel”. Copyrighted in 1969, it was developed by a professional knitting teacher and it is amazing. Here is a blog post about it that I found.  

I think we’ll need to mow today here at home and tomorrow out at the farm. We leave to go camping for three days on Monday. I told Mr. FixIt I want to camp as much as possible to make up for lost time. He’s such a sport…always ready to have some fun. He gets to go fishing this time!
