I took this picture Monday night before another wave of rain hit. If you zoom in, just on the far side of the pollinator garden on the left, you can see my little buck that comes to see me every evening at Marshmallow Ranch. He’s a handsome fellow.
We ran to town yesterday to pick up a prescription and some fresh produce from the farm stand. On the way home, I told Mr. FixIt I was going to fix supper then go back out to the farm since my stay was interrupted on Monday. I got here about 8:00pm and stopped to talk to the neighbors across the road. By the time I got to the house, the power was out again. A huge tree fell across the road at 2:00 yesterday morning and took out the power lines. The electric came back on at 10:00 and was on the rest of the day…till I got here.
I used the neighbors’ phone to call Mr. FixIt because I knew he’d be worried. I always check in as soon as I get here. The power company said the power would be back on by 11 o’clock and it came on at 10:45. I was laying here in the dark and thinking about a few things. I need to be sure to have some form of light out here. I have my big spotlight but the battery won’t last forever. I thought about my Aunt Peeps living out here at 83 during the derecho of 2012. It was about this time of year…really hot and sticky. And she didn’t have power for over a week!
So…no electric. No phone. No water. Darker than a dungeon. And you know what? The thing that bothered me the most was not being able to write! And then…by the time the electric came on, I was past my window of creativity. So I’ll close with Mr. FixIt’s favorite line.
It’s always an adventure with Ginny McKinney!

““You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
Hi Ginny!
Remember your stay with the campers in Yuma CO? We had 2 tornadoes touch down last night, right on the West side of town. It was right behind my house. Downed power lines, flipped a pivot and storage shed with combines in it, took a roof off a farmhouse and a field of corn gone! Lots of rain and large hail. Crazy summer Take care!
OMGosh! Yes! It was close to the ranch where we stored the camper this summer. They sent a photo of it.
