I have torn the family room apart. I’m deep cleaning it in preparation for the holiday season. I hung some more of the pretty samplers I bought this year. I figured out a way to get a handle on all the power cords I use when I sit down in my Big Comfy Chair to work on my Etsy Shop. I found an old rectangular basket big enough to hold my power strips and cords. I cut a hole in one end and ran the power cord out the back of the basket and plugged it in. The top is not covered so the power strip won’t overheat, and the sides are high enough you can’t readily see in it. I’m finally hanging things on the walls. They really need a good coat of paint, but I’ll put that off till next year. The room is in that “looks worse than than it did before” stage right now.
Mr. FixIt had to go to town yesterday for an appointment so I asked if he would mind picking up some things at the grocery store for me. I wrote out a list and sent it via text. I remembered to add something so I reminded him to be sure to look at BOTH lists. I asked for three one pound tubes of ground turkey. So, he came home with ONE three pound tube of ground beef. What is it about men that they can’t read a grocery list? He brought home two boxes of Corn Chex. While he was unloading things, I went to the pantry and picked up the box we already had in there and poured all of them into two Rubbermaid cereal canisters. He said, “Oh, I didn’t know we had that.” I asked if it was on the list. Nope.
Bless his heart.
I know there are men out there who wouldn’t even try! And lawsy me…I know for certain I’ve come home with things we didn’t need and forgot to get what we did! We’ve got one good brain between us and I am so grateful I have a partner who cares enough to try.
Since we had all that hamburger, I decided to make him a nice meatloaf for supper. I’ve never really made good meatloaf, so I looked up a recipe on the Food Network Kitchen app. I heated up a jar of my home canned half-runner beans and cooked some farfalle pasta. I dressed it simply with butter and grated parmesan cheese. It was SO yummy. Here’s a link for the meatloaf.
I left the dishes to soak and ran out and mowed till it was too dark to see, then came back in and cleaned the kitchen. And with that, I was spent. It was time to sit down and write to you good people to see how your week is going. We are running to town today to have our eye exams. It’s not till the afternoon so I’m hoping I can get some more of the grass mowed. We have more rain coming in later in the week and I was hoping to get it done beforehand. Not sure I’ll make it.
We head to the beach a week from today. We are keeping a weather eye out for hurricanes. It could go either way, but at least we will be prepared in case there is smooth sailing.
Oh, and here’s a new one for me. This is a Pigeon Horntailed Wasp. Even though they looke pretty nasty, they cannot sting people. Pumkin was playing with this one, then I got busy mowing so I am not sure of its fate. Such is life in the country!
