Even though we still have a container of leftover broccoli cheese soup, I had stew meat in the fridge that needed to be cooked. I have hardly any room left in the freezer. So I made a big pot of beef stew with carrots, onions, celery, mushrooms, parsnips, a small can of diced roasted tomatoes and stewed tomatoes. I added a spoonful of beef soup base from Sam’s, a good spoon of minced garlic, a generous shake of black pepper, just a little salt, and two shakes of Cajun seasonings for a little kick. When you cook by guesswork and your senses, it isn’t easy to make dishes taste the same as those before it. This one came out just perfect. So now we also have two containers of beef stew to add to the leftover rotation.
Mr. FixIt’s foot looked slightly better today and he said it was no longer hurting like it did Friday night. I believe he got nipped by the cold but not severely. I’ll keep an eye on it. Maybe now he’ll wear boots when he goes out to feed the birds instead of mesh tennis shoes. Men…gotta love ‘em, even when you want to shake ‘em by the scruff of the neck sometimes.
I watched Big compete in another swim meet yesterday. They were swimming against a pretty good team. It’s hard to keep up with the scoring of a swim meet. I’ve never really understood all the workings, but it was fun to watch my girl on the screen. When the meet was over, we watched football and that’s pretty much how we spent our day.
Oh, I did crochet some more on the market bag. The video that shows how it’s made lasts an hour and a half. I’m making the same size and so far I’ve been working on it since New Year’s Eve and only have about 3-4” done of the sides. My ADHD brain gets easily sidetracked! Ohhhhh…SPARKLIES!!! We’re heading back into a deep freeze today with more snow a low of 4° tonight!
Stay warm, my friends…and wear boots when you go outside!

***Gratitude Journal***
I am great full to have lived many years in a state of peace and tranquility. Even in the face of uncertainties, I am grateful to have a warm and safe home, clean water, and fresh food.
