The Storm of The Decade

I was hoping we wouldn’t have to go to town till next week, but we both had a prescription to pick up and some last-minute essentials. I had a hankering to cook beef stew and buttermilk biscuits today, so off we went. It was snowing really hard when I got up, but we waited till afternoon to leave. By that time, the sun was shining but man…it was bitter cold! I had a turtleneck and a sweater on under my Canadian parka. I wore a hat I knitted last winter and the fingerless gloves my dear friend Gail spun and knit for me. I was toasty warm but when I went in CVS it was so hot in there, I had to take off the coat. After all…it was up to 25° outside and that coat stayed off the rest of the day.

We stopped at the new iHOP out by the interstate and grabbed breakfast for supper…one of my favorite things. Once we got home and got things put away, I read the recipe for the English muffins more carefully and I think I got a couple of steps out of order. I will check the dough in the morning and if it isn’t right, I’ll try again. It’s time to bake bread again, too. This is such a wonderful starter. It’s strong and bubbly and smells wonderful and the bread is coming out great.

Mr. FixIt has decided not to go into town for bowling tonight. The roads would probably be okay going, but coming home will be a different story. We’re going to miss out on our third great-grands birthday party too. We just aren’t as willing to go out in bad weather as we once were. I’ll make it up to him later.

This will be a much nicer day knowing we don’t have to go out for a few days. I hope you all will be careful during this dangerous storm. Let us know what kind of weather you’re having and we can track the storm.
