Ok, disclaimer…I lifted the picture from the Internet when I Googled “Christmas Cookie Fails”. That being said, who hasn’t seen similar results when you’re baking for the holidays? Oh, there are people out there who make perfect…and I do mean PERFECT Christmas cookies. (See Buffalo Baking Co! My dear friend Patti and her daughter Jamie make the most beautiful, and delicious, cookies!!! https://www.facebook.com/BuffaloBakingCo/posts/1338179656203105 ) I’ve tried. Seriously, I have. But I don’t have the patience to decorate dozens of cookies. One, and I’m done.
Today is the family cookie baking marathon in my son-in-law’s mom’s beautiful, big kitchen. From Grandma Lois in her mud-eighties to my youngest granddaughter who is nine, this place will be buzzing till late afternoon. Dozens of dozens of cookies will be produced today. There will be fudge. And we’ll dip anything we can get our hands on into melted white, milk, and dark chocolate. There will be nut clusters and cherry mash, dipped Oreos and turtles, rolled cookies and drop cookies and bar cookies. And yes…some of them may be unrecognizable. But I can guarantee you they’ll be good. And they’ll be eaten. Anyone lucky enough to get a variety plate out of this kitchen will be blessed indeed!
It will be a fun day, for sure. And memories that will be cherished for years to come will be made. I look forward to this day all year! I’ll post pics tomorrow. ❤️
