This performance reminds me of the talented kids who attended my younger daughter’s alternative high school. It was a cross between The Breakfast Club and Fame. Sonja Linman is the amazing teacher who embraces these exceptional human beings who don’t learn by the standards preset in an office in the capital. They’ve been labeled, these kids. They learn different…they look different…they act different…but they blossom under the tutelage of Sonja’s beautiful, magnanimous heart. Every spring, she directs her students in a musical that rivals Rock and Roll High School. God bless teachers like Sonja who embrace their students’ challenges and steers them toward a meaningful, successful life.
