This was a rough week but I’ve turned the corner and I’m heading right back up! I returned from my last trip with a bug that I picked up on the plane, pulled my back out pulling up my pants (insert laugh track here), had my physical (whee!) with some resultant abnormal blood tests, had said tests repeated with the addition of an abdominal ultrasound (results to follow), worked an 11 hour day yesterday whilst ill (haven’t we all?), and found out an old friend from my past died on the 15th. What was worse though…her son died 5 days later at the age of 52 leaving a wife and two kids (16 & 20). There is no rhyme or reason to this. We have no explanation as to why these things happen other than it is the nature of life. It’s unpredictable, uncontrollable. Ecclesiastes 3:1. My thoughts and prayers are with the families involved.
I’ve been steadily catching up with the things I let slide while I was battling this cold (and icing my back as well as my ego. I mean, really…who throws their back out pulling up their pants?!) I am heading out tomorrow (oh gosh…TODAY) to the big city and fly out to Las Vegas on Sunday to keep Mr. B company while he’s teaching a class down there. Ok, I’m also going to be lazy in the sunshine, read, have lunch with a high school friend, see a long lost nephew, exercise, nap, go out to breakfast/lunch/dinner, and check out the action on the Strip. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right?
I was SO excited when I found this really low airfare with Spirit for this trip. I’ve never flown with them before. I received an e-mail today reminding me that I had not “purchased luggage” yet. I’m thinking….”How would they know if I had luggage or not?” Mr. B, ever the world traveler, said it meant I hadn’t paid for (online, in advance) my luggage fee. Ok, most airlines have a bag fee these days. but when I went on their site, the bag fee is $100!!! PER BAG. Now, you have to understand that I just returned from a 2.5 week trip to WV which admittedly had 2-3 seasons of weather over that time and a girl has to have the right shoes and an assortment of sweaters, jeans, shorts, tanks, skirts, belts, jewelry, and did I mention shoes? I took two suitcases…BIG, heavy suitcases…to a farm. Today I stuffed a toothbrush, a pair of sandals, and a sundress into my Ferragamo bag because, while I may pay more for something like the bag itself, there’s no way I’m paying someone $100 to carry it for me!
If it’s snowing where you are, keep warm. If it’s hot, keep cool. And have a great weekend!
