This is the time of year where you can almost see the grass grow. Long, sunny days of hot, humid weather brings slow, steady growth. Add the rain that’s coming in the next three days and it’s going to get crazy out there! Mr. FixIt is still recuperating from his last stroke so he can’t really mow right now. I love mowing, so I don’t mind it at all. And, he is so appreciative. He always thanks me when I pick up the slack and tells me what a good job I’m doing. It makes it so much easier when you are appreciated.
I mowed the whole six acres yesterday…including with the push mower inside the fenced yard around the pool. Mr. FixIt took the hoe to the garden. My stepson told me to mix up a solution of one gallon of water with one teaspoon of Epsom salts in it. He said to pour one whole gallon on each tomato plant, once a week. I got all but eight of them fed when Mr. FixIt thought maybe I shouldn’t do all of them…just in case. Probably smart. We’ll do a science experiment and see if it makes a difference.
While I was mowing, I also worked up another couple of loaves of sourdough bread (on my water breaks). It was ready to put in the fridge in the garage by evening and will rise slowly overnight. I’ll bake it first thing this morning before it gets too hot. It was nearly 8:00 by the time I was done and a dip in the pool was just what the doctor ordered.
As I was writing this, thunder started rumbling as a storm front approached. It was the perfect ending to a really stellar day. Summer Solstice is over and the days will get incrementally shorter now. But for now…
We are knee deep in June!

Isaiah 40:8 NIV
We always put epsom salt on our tomato plants. I just sprinkle it around the plants with the fertilizer & water it in . It good for the plants. My husband has a sour dough starter going in the fridge. He makes some good bread! Keep it up Ginny!
