Oh. Em. Geeeee. What a day! I finished packing and hit the road with a full cup of coffee by 10:00. I got to mile marker 82 in I-77 when traffic came to a dead stop. I mean like, get out of your car and meet your neighbors stop. One of the most important things I recommend for travel is a smartphone with access to the internet. While my GPS neglected to tell me there was traffic congestion on my route, Siri informed me there had been a truck fire and emergency crews were working to put it out. Three hours later , I drove past this charred hulk of a semi, a tanker truck still hosing down its contents strewn all over. I couldn’t tell for sure but it was loose bags of something orange.
I stopped in Wytheville, Virginia for gas and found this painted rock. It’s all the rage right now…paint rocks and leave them places. When you find one, you take a picture of it and say where you find it, then you hide it again. I know a lot of people who do this and it’s fun. I’ll take it to the beach and leave it there.
I pressed on past Mount Airy where I had initially planned to stop but felt I needed to make up for lost time. I thought I could get a room near Winston-Salem but you couldn’t find a room within 100 miles of there due to a furniture show. North Carolina is big in the furniture manufacturing biz. Therefore, I ended up driving till 1:00am and found one of the last two rooms in North Carolina…if not the entire country! The wonderful lady at the front desk gave me a great deal for a large, comfy king-sized room and check out isn’t till noon….yessss!
The floaters in my eye bugged the heck out of me till it got dark. I’m told my brain will get used to the floaters and I won’t notice them. That can come now, please. With that, I’m closing and hitting the hay. Tomorrow (today!) is another day! ❤️
“You’ll travel safely, you’ll neither tire nor trip. You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, Because GOD will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound.”
Proverbs 3:23-25 MSG
May God keep you safe on your journey ❤️

Enjoy your posts! The BEST travel app is Waze, keeps you informed of everything you need to know on the road. I am sure you will love it as I do❣
I tried WAZE and didn’t like it for some reason. Maybe it has improved. I’ll have to try it again. Thanks for the recommendation. ❤️
I always worry about getting stuck like that and having to potty……..
THere were lots of people crossing the highway in foot and jumping over the guardrail to disappear for a few minutes. Some of the women brought lookouts! This is one of the benefits of traveling with a camper. You bring your entire house with you…including the bathroom! ❤️
I didn’t know the rock story…saw one at the Columbus zoo a couple of weeks ago. Safe travels!
❤️
Neither did i. What a cute way of communication
❤️
Think I’ll go find some rocks to take on my travels this summer!
❤️
BELIEVE is ‘my’ word!!! ?
I’m in NC now…if you’re ever in the Wake Forest area…give me a shout…just put an offer in on a house ?
Sweet!!! I will! ❤️
We have been painting rocks recently. I had never heard of the tradition you mentioned. My daughter and grands painted a lot at Easter. We placed them in flower beds in my yard. I will have to leave a few so others may enjoy our “making memories” time.
Pat, there are groups on FB like Western WV Rocks. Search FB for “rocks”. You might find more groups. They usually write on the bottom or glue a little label on the bottom, leave them around in places. When you find them, you take a picture and post it on their page and tell where you find it. It’s like geocaching, without GPS. ❤️
