I was so proud of myself yesterday. I didn’t scroll endlessly through social media and news sites filling my every waking moment with the talking heads. Instead, I had a leisurely breakfast with my sweetheart then took him to the dentist. Poor dear had to have some painful work done. I brought him home with a stop at the store for ice cream, yoghurt, and cottage cheese…soft and easy to eat. He dug into my home canned applesauce as well so he was, overall, a pretty contented guy. Tylenol seemed to keep him comfortable enough.
As he kicked back in his comfy new recliner, I worked on the Christmas ornaments I am knitting. We watched Andy Griffith and Frazier and Big Bang Theory reruns. We did watch the evening news and that was the extent of election info for the day.
I’m still working on the two little kits I bought when we were at the beach. I have ripped out the white one six times. First it was too little to get the clear plastic ornament into. Then it was too big and I ran out of yarn before it was finished. This went back and forth and finally, I set it aside and worked on the other one. It has bright colors and for some reason, the pattern just struck me and I realized what I did wrong with the other one. Basically, it boils down to trying to keep track of stitch count and watching TV. That just doesn’t work very well for me. Once I figured it out, it was smooth sailing and I’m almost finished with the fourth ornament.
I bought some fuzzy white yarn so I’m going to try to make some that look like snowballs. I also bought some of that scratchy yarn to make kitchen scrubbies. I’ll show you those when I start on them. That’s really the extent of my day. It was uneventful, given the importance of the election. And, I finished the day relaxed and not angst filled. I’m focused on peace and goodness in my life because I have no control over what happens outside of it. I still, at the time of this writing, have no idea who won the presidency. We may get up this morning and not know. But, win or lose, we are all Americans…one nation, under God.
So, today…I just keep knitting.
