Pumpkin is all grown up…she’s a jungle cat!
I’m so glad we got the mowing finished on Sunday because yesterday was so hot. Mr. FixIt went to the tomato patch to weed it then stopped on the way home for a watermelon. I would rather have a watermelon than a birthday cake, but it’s a little early in the year and this one was kind of mushy. But it was cold and that’s what I was aiming for.
When the sun went over the hill, we jumped in the pool to clean it. I knew there was a bad storm coming, and when it started getting darker, I could hear thunder in the distance. I asked Mr. FixIt if we should put the camper down and he thought that was a good idea. So, we got it all tucked in and I pulled it out from under the maple tree just in case the wind took a limb out.
We had hardly gotten inside when the wind hit as the front came through. They were predicting a derecho which is straight line winds in excess of 60 to 80 miles per hour. Scary! We got rain and lots of thunder and lightning, and as I am writing this, we’ve been without power for over an hour and a half. No power equals no air conditioning. Fortunately, the rain brought a 20° drop in temperature so we opened all the windows in the house.
I had a beautiful birthday. Quietly spent at home with my sweetheart. I finished knitting a hat. I did a little reading. Lots of people texted and called and FaceTimed for my birthday. And YOU…how nice of you to take the time to wish me a happy day! I appreciate you all so much!!! Then, God topped it off with fireworks!
Hopefully everything will work out today to go camping. I’ll have to check at the state park where we are going to see if they had much damage and it’s still ok to come. Hopefully the electric comes back on soon. That’s one of the downsides of living out in the country. Lot’s of trees. Trees and wind equals downed limbs which takes out power lines. And those power lines are often quite difficult to get to.
I hope you are all safe from the severe storms today. Be careful out there and stay hydrated!
