I have a new life. It’s not the one I wanted. It’s not the one I had planned. But, as God would have it, it’s the one that was planned for me long before I came here. Oh, I could sit here and contemplate why this and that happened, but does it really matter? Each step along the way prepared me in some way for the next.
When I was feeling the crunch of homeownership and the need for less in my life, I was led to sell my house. When I sold my house, I was led to WV to care for my aunt. When that didn’t work out, I was led to a friend. She led me to more friends. The more friends you have, the more likely it is that they are spread around a large geographical area. The road to a friend’s house is never long. The saying means it’s not a real effort to reach out to a true friend. I think it can also be taken more literally. A true network of friends creates a safety net of people who love you and have your back and someone is likely nearby when you need them.
People are led into your life for a reason and many become truly special. I have such special friends. I have the most amazing family. They are there for me anytime, day or night. They sharpen me. They smooth out my rough edges. They make me think. They push me to be a better person. They make me reach for new heights. The last two months have been difficult but very good for me. I’m healing on a deeper level. Something inside of me is waking up. The first year I was numb. The second year was worse because I was awake. Hopefully life will continue to improve in the coming year.
