I was amazed how easy it was to navigate in and out of Washington, DC. It took me longer to get my truck from the hotel garage Sunday than it did to drive deep into the Shenandoah Valley. I was inside for three days in meetings in the air conditioning so I didn’t get out till Sunday morning. I walked around and saw the White House, the Washington Monument, and the American History Museum. I’ve visited DC many times and I’m always thrilled each time I return. Now that I realize how easy it is to get there from WV, I may go back and spend more time exploring.
After staying overnight up on the mountain at my cousin’s, I headed back to the farm yesterday. The very real concern of that roof leak came to the top of my list of things that need doing. I stopped at Lowe’s and texted my friend who knows about such things to find out exactly what I needed. Armed to the teeth with paint and brushes, plus a flat of drinking water, I noticed the beautiful mums in the garden center and decided to buy one for the front porch. Mums mean Autumn is near. I love an all white bouquet, so I bought the white one.
It’s too hot to paint the roof just yet, but it’ll be cooling off before long. In the meantime, I’ve been on a treadmill for weeks so I’m taking a couple days off to regroup. Sitting on the porch reading…that sounds wonderful. Save my place…I’ll be back soon.
