The last time I had a Covid Booster, I kinda felt puny for a couple of days. This time, not so much. My arm isn’t even all that sore today. I suppose I still had enough antibodies in my system to not react terribly, but I’m awfully glad we got the vaccines. We still are vigilant with mask wearing and hand washing and social distancing. We’ve relaxed a little bit with restaurants, but then only mid to late afternoon and ask to be seated in a far corner booth. I’m feeling really confident that we can get through the holidays a bit more at ease than we did last year.
I am perfecting the two ingredient biscuit recipe I learned this summer. I made a batch yesterday and it is indeed the most forgiving dough. The biscuits were perfection! I fried up some sausage and eggs to go with them and we had a fine feast before a day of chores.
My stepson called yesterday morning to ask if we wanted a load of firewood. Mr. FixIt jumped on that, hooked up the utility trailer, and headed over to help. While he was gone, I did a little cleaning and knitting while I watched Celebrating Appalachia videos on YouTube. It’s such a peaceful oasis in the storm of news and social media. Yesterday was a particularly awful day with the attack on Speaker Pelosi’s husband. I’m sure you join me in prayers for his speedy and complete recovery. Some days are harder than others to deal with the brokenness of this world.
When Mr. FixIt returned with the load of firewood, I went out and helped him unload and stack it by the fire-pit out back. It wasn’t a lot of wood, but we could both feel it in our backs by the time we finished for the day. The kitchen was completely out of hand so I did a thorough cleaning before I sat down to watch the news. When it was done, I came out to the camper to write. I was thinking of ”yard camping”, but decided to come back in after I finished this post. I’m not soft, but I didn’t want to spend the entire night with my arms tight under the covers. I guess I’m relegated to occasional visits or naps. *sigh*
I have a couple of prayer requests to add before tomorrow. My dear friend Sue has hit a bump in the road in her recovery from knee surgery and could use some prayers for strength and healing. Little has had mono for a month and is still struggling with fatigue. And my friend Gail asked for prayers for Chuck for a brain bleed with upcoming surgery on Tuesday. Big is in her first big college swim meet this weekend. Prayers for safety and strength. Thank you!
We need to go get the roofing shingles today. And…I found the electric blanket! It was folded up inside a quilt I had taken off the guest bed this spring. It was stuck behind the “Tub-o-Yarn” I bought when the knit shop closed this summer. Mystery solved!
What’s going on in your neck of the woods this weekend?
