My brother, my heart!
OMGosh! I had to be in town yesterday for two separate appointment four hours apart so there was going to be a little shopping done. However, Mr. FixIt asked if he could come along with me to buy a tube of glue. Even after I offered to get him the glue, he still expressed interest in tagging along and of course, I love having him tag along. I can always buy his present later!
We went out to breakfast at our favorite diner and I splurged with a pancake, eggs and bacon. What a treat! Afterward, we sat in the parking lot waiting for the phone conference I was invited to. My brother has an update every six months and we do it over video chat so we can see each other. I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks. He looked happy and it made my heart sing to see him doing so well.
We went to the mall later and walked all over the place. Getting in our daily steps is more difficult when we’re done with mowing season and it’s cold outside. We killed a couple of hours then headed to my appointment. I learned a lot of things yesterday. The biggest of which is… dry eye disease is a much bigger deal than I thought it was. My avid use of the computer these last ten years has done a job on my eyes. We are working on a treatment plan but it is definitely something that must be dealt with right away. I’ll need to cut back a little on my screen time till I get some of the inflammation under control. So, there may be some writings from the archive from time to time when my eyes are feeling especially uncomfortable. I do hope you will understand.
We stopped for a quick dinner at Wendy’s and when we got home, I turned left to check the mail. That’s when he said, “Whoa, whoa, whoa… don’t pull into our road!” Something was glittering in the light. I couldn’t figure out what he was talking about. After I checked the mail, I swung the truck around and turn the headlights on high and there was the evidence of an accident of some sort right in the middle of the entry to our road.
Mr. FixIt found an area where it was safe to drive in, then we went and got a broom, head lamps, and a broom. I started sweeping up the broken glass and my sweetie picked up the bigger pieces of the grill of a car. I saw skid marks on the white line along the side of the road. I didn’t see any evidence of a second vehicle so, even though there wasn’t any blood, I’m sure someone hit a deer. From the looks of the glass, I’d say a side window was broken, too. Once we had the biggest part of the mess cleared up, I did a cursory search just to make sure there wasn’t a car off the side of the road or an injured deer but there was nothing. I’ll look again today when it’s light.
So it was a good day, overall, and we got a lot done.
Welcome to December!
