Ahhhhhh….this is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. Camping in the dense woods of West Virginia. We are a little too early in the season for the good colors. I’m thinking it’ll be better next week on our way back through. I love the sound of the wind in the trees and the varied wildlife in the area. We stopped today at Tamarack, a beautiful building featuring gorgeous items handcrafted by some of the best artisans of our fair state. We ate in their restaurant….fried green tomato sandwiches! Yummmm! We headed back on the road and stopped for the night in Little Beaver State Park not far from Beckley.
Our goal is to drive over to New River Gorge this morning. The road down into the gorge is far too steep to take TOW-Wanda, so we unhooked last night before dark and we’ll be ready. We’ll decide today where we want to camp next. This is one of the best things about traveling a girlfriend. She and I both have the same sense of adventure and spontaneity. It’s fun having company to share the experience, she’s a good navigator, and we can split the expenses making it much more affordable. We get along great and we know each other well enough we can tell the other when we need a break without hurt feelings.
Day one done. What’s next?

“The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
