Another Tax Season Is In The Books!

Mr. FixIt got a closeup of our Dwarf Rhododendron! Good job, babe!

Whew! I wasn’t sure I was ever going to be finished. Even with all the work I did in advance, it still took me five days to do the taxes. Good golly! I was determined to get them done yesterday so I asked Mr. FixIt if he would mind making his world famous oats for breakfast so I could get to work. After breakfast, he left me to my own devices and went out to change a part on Louisa the Lincoln. The “Service Engine Soon” light has been on for a week. At first it said it was the gas cap so we got a new one. No change. Then it indicated the Mass Air Intake Sensor was faulty so we ordered a new one. I had to help a little because Mr. FixIt only has two hands.

The engine light stayed on, so we went to the auto parts store in our little village and had them connect it up to the computer reader again. She told us we fixed the mass air intake error, but it was still saying there was a faulty gas cap. We checked it and it was tight. The other error was for a faulty oxygen sensor. Mr. FixIt will figure out how to fix that. He knows how to do everything! He and Mr. YouTube!

On our way back from town, he asked if I’d like to go to the little pizza joint at the edge of Parkersburg to get some supper. He knows how many times I have cleaned that kitchen this week and he knew I was ready for a break. I jumped at the chance and we went to Pete’s Pizza. Someone told us they make excellent hot sub sandwiches. They were very tasty. Pete’s has wing nights once a week so we may have to try that some time.

We took the long way home and checked out the flowering trees. They’re getting so pretty and people are mowing everywhere. I’m going to have to mow soon…at least the yard inside the fence. We need to give Mr. FixIt’s back a rest…he’s the bowling substitute on Sunday night. So I’ll probably do the push mower, too.

Just a couple more cool days and nights and the temperatures will start climbing as we head deeper into official spring. I’m so relieved to get winter behind us. As we drove back down our road last night, Mr. FixIt said he thought my pretty pink dogwood that he planted for me died. That made me sad. It really grew a lot the last three or four years. I’ll go out and check it today to see if there’s any hope. The peonies have shot up ten inches in two days! The underbrush in the woods is getting that beautiful bright spring green, but my redbud still has no blooms at all on them…not even buds. We did have some prolonged freezes this winter and its been hard on the vegetation

Still no word if my brother got moved yesterday, but I’m hoping for the best!

“Come on, let’s go back to God. He hurt us, but he’ll heal us. He hit us hard, but he’ll put us right again. In a couple of days we’ll feel better. By the third day he’ll have made us brand-new, Alive and on our feet, fit to face him. We’re ready to study God, eager for God-knowledge. As sure as dawn breaks, so sure is his daily arrival. He comes as rain comes, as spring rain refreshing the ground.”
