Boy, howdy…yesterday was a PERFECT spring day in West Virginia! We hung around the house till about 2:00 then Mr. FixIt asked if I wanted to go for a drive out to the farm. We hadn’t been there since the week before we went to Florida and I was itching to catch some spring flowers blooming.
Actually, there was only one small patch of daffodils in bloom, but it won’t be long till the spring flowers are going to burst forth in their flashy displays. Everything in the house was great. I turned down the heat and checked all the lights, windows and doors. The only thing that has changed is a huge tree up the holler fell across the creek and the big boxwood out front split in half with the weight of the last spring snow. That made me sad, but it’s all part of life in the country.
We decided to take the long way home. Our first goal was the cemetery to see my mom and family. Then we went to town. Ever since Mr. FixIt saw footprints in the snow all around my car, we have been on the hunt for a reliable security camera system. They had them on sale at Harbor Freight so now I’ll know who dares to set foot out there.
We got dinner and took it to the river and sat on the tailgate having a picnic. We stopped to see two of our great grandchildren on the way home. It’s the first time we have really seen them up close since the baby was a newborn. Even though we are vaccinated, we still wore our masks. The kids are much more lax with precautions than we are so it’s imperative that we remain protected.
It felt so good to get out and drive in the sunshine! It was 80 degrees by the time we got to the river and….oh, what a welcome sight. It’s been so long since we’ve taken a riverside picnic. It was seriously like medicine.

Is that the Monongahela? (Spelling)
No, it’s the Ohio River. ?
