My friend Deneene is having her estate sale this weekend. Then it won’t be long before she packs up a U-Haul and heads south to live. I met her through my blog. She was a fairly new widow at the time and when I found out she was local, I invited her to coffee. Dee is one of those people you run into that becomes your instant, lifelong friend. I am going to miss her terribly, but this means I have yet another place to go visit!
Dee is one of a handful of people who are so kind as to contact me early in the mornings to tell me if there is a typo or grammatical error in one of my posts. Oh…I SO appreciate that because I am a stickler for good spelling and grammar. She texted yesterday morning to point out a little something and we had our usual 5-10 minute conversation to catch up. She asked if I was free for lunch. She and her friend Julie were going to meet at the Polo Club for “Big A** Steak Day”. I laughed and said, “Wow…you AND a big a** steak? Blog fodder!”
BASD is legendary in these parts. They serve it every day, of course. But on Thursdays, it’s $10 cheaper! Twenty-one ounces of ribeye. Holy Cats! In a strictly food critic way, it was really fatty. But, then again, ribeye is a fatty meat. It’s what gives it flavor and tenderness. I’ve got to tell you…I ate about a third of it and brought the rest home. It was SO good!
After lunch I stopped at Walmart to pick something up and saw this really cute “yurt tent”. I could see so many possibilities with this thing being glamped out. I’ve been told by others since sharing this on my FB page, the reviews aren’t very good. But it’s cute as a bug.
Once I got home yesterday, it was time to get out in the yard and get some things done. Trimming low hanging branches that threaten to knock me off the riding mower were my first priority. Then I tied up the tomato plants as they have grown tremendously. We sprinkled rabbit repellent around the garden so we’ll see if that keeps the little critters away from the beans and squash we just planted. I caught this deer wandering through the yard. I was thrilled to see it is a young buck. See the little nubbins above his eyes? Those are his antlers budding up. I’ll keep a close eye out for this guy as he grows to see how big his antlers get.
Spending time with friends, time in the yard and garden, time watching nature, and time with Mr. FixIt made for a really nice day. The weather is back to normal and the day was pretty. We will need several more hot days to warm the pool back up. It got down to 75 degrees with all those cold nights…too cold for me to swim.
Enjoy your Friday! Anyone going on a road trip or camping??? I’d love to get out there and camp somewhere soon! ❤️
“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.”
Psalm 96:11-12 NIV

I so look forward to your posts everyday. I have a connection with you as you enjoy all the things I do. I camped a lot as a kid and hope to begin again with my sister. I wish we were closer ( I live in Kansas) so we could have for a cup of coffee together while enjoying early morning nature.
I have some Sisters on the Fly friends in Kansas that love to camp! I drive through Kansas every so often. Maybe on one of my drive through a we can meet and I can introduce you to my Kansas buddies! ❤️
I would love that. I would like to connect with Sisters on the Fly here.
Denise, you can join at http://www.sistersonthefly.com and then you’lol have access to the member directory. You can find out who is close to you. It only costs $70 a year and you can have “more fun than anyone!” ❤️
A practical question – do you have a favorite deer repellant? We are on a wooded lot and can’t keep a healthy scrub with the number of deer that come through. They’re beautiful; but so tame that they stand on my deck (yikes!) and my driveway.
I’ve been told coyote or fox ruined will keep them at bay but I haven’t tried it yet. You can buy it in some hardware stores.
Sorry you’ll be missing your good buddy. So hard when we find a kindred spirit who then moves away. But like you say, reunions are something to look forward to!
That little fellow will be a ‘spike’ this year, and and a ‘ fork-ed’ horn next year, then a ‘2-point’ where he will draw fire during hunting season.
–and, lol, are vegetables illegal in the East? Don’t think I’ve ever seen a dining- out snapshot of a plate with anything green on it! 😉
Now that I think of it, you’re right…there haven’t been vegetables in my pictures. I must do something about that! ❤️
Your posts make my day ! I love how you find such joy in each day. I’m really struggling with learning how to do this. But I will figure it out ❤
