Bippity-Boppity-Blue!

Big has always loved Cinderella…her very favorite Disney Princess. Now she’s all grown up and preparing to head to college in the fall, but that doesn’t mean that particular shade of blue isn’t still her favorite! Au contraire! This was the color of her dress for senior prom. I promised her I’d knit a sweater to take to college with her. She’s heading to the Pacific Northwest and things get pretty chilly up there.

First, we went on the prowl for the perfect sweater pattern. Pullover or cardigan? She chose a cardigan. That will be more versatile for her, I think. Next, we needed to pick out a yarn. I got one and didn’t like the feel of it and ended up giving it to my friend, Gail. I ordered a new yarn…a blend of cotton and bamboo. I started knitting the sweater yesterday and I’m not totally sold on this yarn either. It’s really heavy and will weigh a ton when it’s done. I’ll keep at it. It will be more like a sweater jacket than the soft sweater I was envisioning. But, it should be really warm and that was the goal.

We had storms predicted in our little corner of the world yesterday and even though the sky puckered up several times, nothing really came of it. We mowed at the farm on Saturday (and saw a gorgeous buck in velvet antlers on the way) and yesterday, we just hung out at home and watched movies while I knitted. I heated up some leftover pot roast, made a rich gravy and served it over mashed potatoes with half runner beans and squash on the side. It was the first time I’ve really cooked a meal in a while.

We have a pretty slow week planned. More mowing, as always. Hopefully we’ll get some cool nights. We still don’t have the pool in tip top shape for the season. We need to get on top of that soon because LIttle is coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks the last half of July and…besides our cooking adventures…the pool is the biggest draw! It’s hard to believe that not only is June nearly over, but the year is half gone!

Why do summers fly by so fast?!

?

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.””

Genesis 8:22 ESV
