We had an amazing visit with my cousin and his wife this weekend. Instead of running around and doing things like we usually do while we were there, I was content to stay put and visit with this most beloved man. Our visits are numbered and I am always pleasantly surprised at his resilience and positive determination. He assured me he will be around a while so I told him I’m counting on that.

We stopped at Pilot Mountain this afternoon and took in the views from the top. We stopped at a lovely rest area outside Greensboro and had a picnic under the spreading arms of flowering dogwood trees. There was a wonderful sweetness drifting on the warm breeze as we nibbled on cheese and crackers. We browsed the area on my cell phone and found an affordable hotel nearby and called it a day. We’ll drive the rest of the way to the beach today.

Thank you God for travel mercies. My many blessings are not lost on me. ❤

  1. Safe journey to you. Going from the flower, I’m going to venture a flowering (ornamental) cherry. The leaf looks more plum-like. Bark would tell the tale. Cherry has circular rings and is rather shiny. Plum has rough irregular vertical ridges.
