Remember the photo I showed you last week…well, the living room is ready to be decorated for the holidays now! Whew…it took me forever!
I’m telling you, having my living space messy and disorganized drives me buggy. However, having ADHD and being somewhere on the autism spectrum keeps me from keeping it neat and tidy. When it’s out of control, it’s completely overwhelming and it’s hard to even know where to start. Once I get a “wild hair” and get into it, I can get it done. It may take me three times longer than most people, but when Mr. FixIt came home from town yesterday to a clean and peaceful house, I could see the tension of the day melt off of him, too.
My Big Red Chair is inviting me in for a day of knitting!
One thing I do to keep me on task and soothe my runaway brain while I work is to put on soft, soothing music. I just ask Echo to play the Spa Channel and those beautiful sounds bring calm to my world and settles my hyper brain right down. That allows me to move rhythmically from one chore to the next and eventually it all gets done. I told Mr. FixIt that the front half of the house is clean now. He just needs to go through his side of the coat closet, and I need to work on the office. One room at a time and we ought to be in good shape by the holidays.
A recent purchase sits on Mr. FixIt’s antique piano stool. I bought the birdhouse at Lonnie’s store in East Palestine this fall knowing it would look pretty by the back door.
I didn’t have anything set out for supper so I looked in the freezer. I had the last two of those turkey burgers I made and froze last month. I asked him if that was good. He said yes, but he wanted French fries. So, he ran over to the Piggly Wiggly and bought a bag of frozen crinkle cut fries and I put them in the air fryer. I don’t used that appliance nearly as much as I should, but it’s the only way to make fries and they don’t break my diet.
I also bought a primitive wire hat rack at Lonnie’s. I have my PopPop’s hat on display above his old lunch pail that sits beside Grandma’s church registry photo.
It’s really nice to finish the day with a sense of satisfaction. A job well done boosts your self-esteem. I’m going to take today off and just enjoy my work. I want to pick up my knitting and have a calm and peaceful day. Mr. FixIt has been in town every day this week and he’s looking forward to not going anywhere, either. I wanted to thank you all for your kind words about the cooking video I posted. It’s made me think about others that I can do and maybe open up a whole new window into the world here at Marshmallow Ranch.
A cozy corner over by the big windows.
Happy Friday, everyone! What are YOU doing for yourself to feel good today?
