The first thing I noticed as I arrived at the Country Living Fair yesterday was the number of women pulling wagons and wire grocery carts, prepared to haul off oodles of awesome stuff. Booth after booth of antiques and high quality arts and crafts spilled out in the pathways, beckoning you to come into the shady recesses of the vendor tents. Soaps, candles, jewelry, clothing, wall art, figurines, signs…it was a veritable cacophony of color and rust, lace and dust. And don’t get me started on the food tents! Ice cream and honey and salsa and cobbler and burgers and pickles…it was enough to put me over the edge of my self-imposed dietary restrictions. But I was good. A cheeseburger, no bun. Fries with Sriracha salt. A roasted ear of corn. Yummmm.
I showed my greatest restraint when I sat in a beautiful Airstream, looking out over the fair goers lugging bags and wagons and carts full of stuff that looks like much of the stuff I dropped off at the thrift shop when I downsized two years ago. Even the clothes held little appeal to me. Most of the styles are loose and flowing and I have plenty of that already. One artist had my attention. I circled around twice, three times. I liked her jewelry last year but resisted buying anything. She’s back.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I used to love to shop. But now all I see is stuff I’ll have to get rid of someday. If it doesn’t serve a purpose or bring me great joy, I really don’t need it. I know at least three men who would have loved for me to have felt this way when they were married to me! lol
TOW-Wanda is ready to be picked up today. They said the water pump worked fine. It hasn’t worked for me for months so who knows. Maybe something was loose and driving it up there jerked it back in place. I’ll keep an eye on it.
