I had a little break yesterday when Mr. FixIt went to physical therapy without me. I worked on the taxes a little…till the internet went out again. The service tech was just here on Friday and put in new wiring and a new router. Ten minutes after he left, the internet went down again. It comes and goes. I can’t seem to figure out why. I hope he can because he’s coming back today to take another stab at it.
I puttered around the garden and tied up the tomatoes. It is amazing how fast they have taken off and how heavy they have become. They are becoming heavy laden with nice green tomatoes. I’m certain we’ll be canning tomatoes this summer! The little raccoon that’s been after our bird feeder managed to knock it down during the night so I set out the live trap to see if I can catch it and deliver it somewhere far, far away from here.
When I was finished in the garden, I headed back inside. The yard inside the fence hasn’t been mowed this week and it is full of clover. And wherever you have clover, you have honeybees. I was walking everywhere barefoot, not a care in the world. Then, I suddenly thought, “Oh, I’d better be careful or I’m going to get stung!” And….BAM! I felt that sharp, electrical shock of pain go through my foot. I looked down and I didn’t actually see a bee, but I assume that’s what it was. It’s been ages since I had a bee sting and I felt like a dolt for not wearing my shoes when I knew better. But, hey…I’m a West Virginia girl. We don’t wear shoes when we don’t have to!
I mixed up some pie crust and set it in the fridge to chill while I peeled some Granny Smith apples and had a pie ready to pop in the oven when Mr. FixIt came home. As soon as it was done and the news was over, I went out to help him put some more stakes in for the last of the tomatoes. We watered the garden and called it a day.
I consider it a good day indeed when you can eat hot apple pie with whipped cream for supper. Farm livin’ is the life for me…bee stings and all!

“So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul— then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.”
