I took yesterday off! I told the boss-man I was NOT working all day and he thought that was a fine idea. It’s a good thing, because I had another near sleepless night Friday. We had thunderstorms come through periodically all day Friday and into the night. Mr. FixIt was worried about the storm drain we cleared out with the snake this week, so he set his alarm to go off at 2:00, 3:30, and 5:00. First…I probably fell asleep about 1:30, so that was the end of sleep for me. Second, it hardy rained at all overnight so it was overkill. But, like he says…better to be safe than sorry. 

The only thing I did yesterday that was “work related” was take the new gizmo I bought, hook it up to the hose, and run water down the storm drain for twenty minutes or so. The Drain King works kind of like a balloon angioplasty where a balloon in streamed into a vein (like a pipe) and it is inflated to open the vein. The only difference here is, the ballon makes a seal in the drain, then the water is shot out under pressure down the pipe and blasts out the clog. Voila!

I threaded the Drain King down the storm pipe and turned on the water and then walked down to the creek to see if it was working. As you can see, there is water running through the ditch we dug out this week down at the creek. It works, it works! Now, maybe we won’t be such slaves to the whims of the rain gods and we can go camping when the tomatoes are finished!

We went to town for supper last night and stopped at Walmart. I bought myself a kitchen toy. I’ve been wanting one of these Ball FreshTECH Jam and Jelly Makers. I’ve made jams and jellies for years and there’s always a time when I get distracted and scorch the fruit because it doesn’t get stirred like it’s supposed to. Or, I forget to set my timer and either the jam is too loose or too stiff. This little gadget takes the guesswork out of the whole process. You put your ingredients in, turn it on, and it stirs, cooks, and times the process for you. I am always multitasking when I am in the kitchen, so we’ll see how it works in the next couple of weeks.

It was a relaxing and stress free day. I think I’ll do a repeat today. Except…I’m going to make lasagna with the rest of the sauce I made Friday. Have a happy day!
