Sunrise on the Fishing Boat
The guys had a big day on their fishing trip. They came back sunburned and exhausted, loaded down with bags of fresh, filleted fish, individually vacuum packed. They divided the catch and each get to take home thirty-three pounds. There were sea bass, red snapper, trigger fish, and hammer jack. That’s going to be some good eating in the coming months.
Quite a Haul of Fish: Sea Bass, Red Snapper, Trigger Fish, & Hammer Jack
I sat out on the deck having my coffee yesterday morning. What a treat to have some quiet time with my thoughts before the activities of the day. While the fellas were off fishing, my daughter-in-law and I went out to the beach and sat for hours visiting. I worked on a little knitted Christmas ornament. I finally had to turn around because I was getting too sun and windburned. The day really was perfect…not a cloud in the sky and just the right temperature.
Some sort of Amphibious Craft Practicing Maneuvers
At one point, I looked up and there was an amphibious vehicle driving down the beach and straight out into the ocean. Where we are staying is near a government facility of some sort. There were military helicopters flying back and forth and I saw fighter jets a couple of times. When we were on the beach on Wednesday, there was an unmarked white van with several kinds of sonar and satellite antennae on top and there were cameras mounted on the rear part of the roof. They drove slowly up and down the beach and honestly, it looked as though they were filming us. It was a little eerie, actually.
A Perfect Day
I finally went back inside and started supper. We had spaghetti sauce with those Italian meatballs I made ahead and put in the freezer. Oh, my gosh…they were SO good. Dinner was ready by the time the guys got back and the fish tales began. They showed off photos and told how hard the fight was for this one and that. The friend they took with them didn’t have much experience fishing so they teased him about it some…you know, the way guys do. But he ended up getting the biggest fish of the day so it was paybacks, for sure.
All in all, it was a wonderful day and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. Mr. FixIt figured out a way he could sit and reel in his fish without losing his balance which made me very happy. Today is our last full day and tomorrow we have to head home. A vacation week never seems to last long enough, does it?

“The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a net is thrown into a lake and catches all kinds of fish. When the net is full, it is dragged to the shore, and the fishermen sit down to separate the fish. They keep the good ones, but throw the bad ones away.”
