Spring has been hiding in the south and we didn’t know it! We drove through South Carolina and Georgia then on into Florida yesterday. We had every intention of staying in the historic district of St. Augustine so we could go over and walk at the fort. Then by the time we arrived, we were both too tired. But we still had a lovely hotel room in a safe and quite neighborhood and I negotiated a good rate. One of the benefits of working in a hotel in a past live…negotiating skills.
I must say, we continue to be pleasantly surprised that people are wearing their masks everywhere we go! There has been one man in a rest area without his mask. I have asked Mr. FixIt to please stop telling people they should have a mask on. Just move away from them and leave them alone…you don’t know who carries a gun! Fortunately, it’s only been the one guy so far.
We are at the front end of spring break and this is Bike Week in Daytona Beach, so the coast is busy. We brought our own food so we eat in our room and stay away from people. Being super careful before the surgery! I don’t want anything to get in the way.
The drive yesterday was lovely…sunny and 66 degrees! The wind still had a little nip in it, but so lovely. The trees are budding and flowering here and the grass is green! What a delicious treat! I happened to look down at the odometer and caught it just as it turned over…100,000 miles!!! Wow, no turning back now…she’s mine till I bury her somewhere in a field, I guess!
I caught a picture yesterday of my Girl Camper bags that I use for luggage. I received one of the medium bags last year for Christmas as my Girl Camper Guide Christmas gift. I loved it so much, I ordered another medium bag and one large bag and had them embroidered with “Girl Camper” as well. I just love the colors and they absolutely make me smile every time I see them. I just went on Land’s End to see if they’re still available in this pretty red and teal plaid, but they aren’t.
Road trips are so wonderful…even when you can’t get out and do as you please when you get there. Just seeing the road whip by and getting a change of scenery is good for the soul. I’ll be so glad when Thursday is behind us!

If you are staying in Daytona, you need to grab a fish sandwich under the bridge (outdoor ordering and eating). Best sandwich around. Or buy your own fish from market next door.
We didn’t stay there this time, but I’ve eaten at that restaurant before and it’s great! I’ll be sure to get one when we stay there next! ?
Hi
I live not far from where you had your fish sandwich, been there a few times, setting outside at the tables, and sometimes you will see the dolphins playing.
enjoy your stay.
