What do you do in the afternoon when you have promised your dermatologist you won’t expose 80% of your body to the strongest sun of the day? Well, you go shopping, of course! Even though I seldom buy anything, I still enjoy a girls afternoon…lunch, then wander aimlessly through cute stores.
It was successful on many levels. Besides the whole girl bonding thing, there was lunch, a cute little coffee shop, and I found a really neat bracelet I HAD to have. It’s a thin silver band with the word “Fearless” stamped on it with a card attached. “To be fearless is to do what scares you, to take a chance, to make a change. To love again. And to get back up after you fall. To be fearless is to know your fears, but never let them stop you.”
This resonated with me and I bought the little band to wear on the same wrist as my feather tattoo. My tattoo reminds me that my burdens are as light as a feather because God carries them for me. It seemed to fit.
Along toward the end of the our shopping excursion, we were in one of the last shops and I saw a coffee mug with “Fear Less” on it. It made me stop dead in my tracks. This is different…a totally different play on words that gives being fearless a whole new meaning.
I do not have to go out there and try to be without fear. But I CAN strive to fear LESS. That is a realistic goal that will benefit me far more than trying to attain the unattainable. Now, when I look at my new bracelet, I will see two words instead of one….Fear Less.
