If I would have started earlier, I think I could have gotten these taxes finished in one day. While having the banking finished ahead of time was a real help, there were still a few papers I couldn’t find. We’ll have to run over the hill and get copies of the personal property taxes today. We are really diligent about putting anything tax relate in a special container. Well, ONE of us is…I’m not saying who it is but he gets in trouble every year for the same infraction. (Oops!)
While I worked all day on the computer, Mr. FixIt planted our new rose bushes and got the weed eater out to trim the back yard. He wanted to run over to the market in our little burg so I put the computer down and said “Let’s go! I don’t want to lose all of this glorious warmth by sitting cooped up in this house!” We rolled the windows down and let the velvety spring air blow over us as we marveled at the blooming redbud lining the road. For some reason, our redbud in the hedgerow did not bloom this spring, yet less than a mile away, they’re showing off something proper. The only thing I can guess is the frost got them. They’re growing right by the creek so I think that made it colder. We may not be able to see them out the kitchen window, but there are plenty to see around the countryside.
When we got home, I made sandwiches for supper while Mr. FixIt pulled out an extra chair for me to sit in while we ate. Our first meal al fresco for the year! It was 79° yesterday and expected to be 86° today! We’ll have a cool front pass through tomorrow evening so our temps will cool down again. These gorgeous days make up for all the cold weather we’ve had this year.
I went back to the taxes and finally got to a place where I could stop for the night. We have to make a trip to town today for a couple of appointments, then the youngest WV grandchild is having a birthday dinner this evening. So, it will be a long day but I’m really looking forward to a break and getting out of the house to do something different.
My sweet brother called yesterday to tell me they are moving him tomorrow and he sounded so excited! Please pray his move goes smoothly and he adjusts quickly to his new surroundings. He owns so much of my heart…all I want is his happiness and security!
We are close enough now to our beach vacation that we can see the projected forecast. So far it looks like there’s a little rain which isn’t unusual. We figure if we get 2-3 good days on the beach, we’re golden and the temps look pretty good. I’m really excited because the Girl Campers will be down on the OBX at some point during the week and I get to visit with them for a little bit. I’ll probably have to forego my annual trip to Knitting Addiction with the Girl Campers in town. Mr. & Mrs. FixIt Jr are coming down for the week, so I don’t want to spend a lot of time away. They are so much fun to travel with!
If I don’t get the taxes finished today, then for sure I’ll have them done tomorrow. Then I can get back to that quilt and finish it up to take to the quilter. I’d love to get that done before we leave. The time is going to start flying by now and before we know it, it’ll be fall again. Summer is the fastest few months of the year.

“And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 1:16-18 ESV
