Guess Where I Am? Hint: The Peepers are Peeping!!!

Pollen coating the parking lot in Savannah, Georgia

Yes…we made it home last night by 9:00. Not the original plan, but…once my husband starts seeing how many miles it is to home on the road signs, we’re done. There’s no stopping that draw, no matter how hard I whined. In all actuality, I was really ready to be home in our own bed and the peepers greeted us where ever there was any standing water…all the way out the two lane. I stood at the edge of the driveway and tears stung my eyes at that beautiful sound…SPRING!

We started our day just south of Savannah, Georgia at 10:00 yesterday morning. I drove for the first three hours or so, then Mr. FixIt took a turn at the wheel. I took over in Wytheville, Virginia and drove the rest of the way home. We had an easy drive. We avoided the terrible storms that are hitting the south this week. As a matter of fact, it didn’t rain a drop till we were emptying the truck at home. We did see a couple of accidents, but no emergency vehicles so hopefully the occupants were ok.

I love it down south…spring comes early and everything is green and lush. But I swear…there are WAY too many people south of the Mason Dixon Line. Y’all are seriously crowded and I don’t know where all those people were coming and going to, but I-95 is like the Daytona 500…day and night. When we walked out to the truck yesterday morning, there had been a light rain during the night and it washed the pollen into wide yellow stripes like paint on the asphalt. It’s no wonder we were both sneezing like crazy.

So, now we are home and in reverse isolation. We have been in crowded areas where the coronavirus mutations are running rampant. Even though we both are fully vaccinated, we could still carry the virus to others who may not be. That’s fine with me. I can use a little down time on the Ponderosa and out at the farm. Once the first few days were over after the surgery, I’ve felt better every day. And, so far, the pain I was experiencing before the surgery hasn’t returned. I did have pain in my hands yesterday while driving. I told Mr. FixIt, the educational materials on the parathyroidectomy specifically said if you had joint pain before, you may still because it doesn’t take away things like arthritis, which I know I have in my hands. I happy with the results and pray it stays that way. Now I can relax a while before mowing season starts!
