Yesterday was one of those wonderful days that started out great and just kept getting better. When I first woke up, I still had some remnants of a headache that’s been bugging me in the background. So I thought I’d just hang out at home, laze around, and skip church. Then that still, small voice said to get up and go so I got up and went. I was so happy I did because it was another one of those days when the sermon was personally written to me. Have you ever felt that? You go into church, maybe thinking about a problem, or wondering about something and before you know it, you get your answer. I love it when that happens.
After church, I headed down to the historic district for the Victorian Christmas Tour. I have some close family friends who have the most amazing house down there. Honestly, it’s like a museum. I’ll post some pictures over the holidays that I took during the tour. It was fun to go inside some of the houses I’d always wanted to peek into.
Next stop was a lunch treat at Olive Garden. Leftovers for dinner made it more affordable. After lunch, I went back to the Victorian to get some pictures without the crowds. Then I headed up to St. Mary’s Basilica of the Assumption in Marietta, OH to hear Handel’s Messiah. The picture here is of the ceiling. What an amazing concert. Stellar talent. I saw people I knew which is always nice.
These are the days you live for. Where joy tips the scale and grief is way below the surface. These are the days you want to keep at the front of your memory box to prove to your dark side there is truly light out there.
