Happy Easter

Violets

I could never understand why today would be called “Good Friday” and not “Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Friday”. After all, today is the day Jesus died on the cross. The images Hollywood has created are mild compared to what really happened that day on that hilltop. There are places in Europe that call this “Sorrowful Friday”. That is appropriate. And some people think the English “Good” evolved from “God’s Friday”. Whatever the origins, it wasn’t until the last few years when my faith was challenged and ultimately deepened that I understood why the death of Jesus was good. It fulfilled prophecy. It saved souls.

Passover is observed this week, as well. Before I became a Christian in 2004, I had lived a Jewish life for 27 years. I love the Passover Seder. The traditional foods, the story of the Passover. I can still hear my late father-in-law as he breezed through the Haggadah every year, picking and choosing what he would read, what he could leave out. Those were wonderful memories and we all miss him. The first Seder had to have been bittersweet to my kids and grandkids observing without their Pop.

I am going to take a three day break in observance of the holidays. I wish you the very best holiday, whichever you observe. And if you don’t observe, I wish you love and light. I’ll be back Monday! ❤️

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  5. Your picture of the wood violets brought happy memories of my Mom. We would go to my Grandma’s in Okla in Spring to search for the allusive wood violet. If found knew that Spring was close. My Mom even brought some home with her to Texas, which promptly overtook her flower bed. These sweet flowers are memories of her.
    Most Blessed Easter to you.

  6. Happy Easter/Passover Ginny ?☀
This is another ‘first’ for me. Some tears fell down in the grocery store when I saw a leg of lamb..then as quickly I started to giggle..turned to my daughter and said so many memories revolve around food….Jim loved to cook and eat. Even the Kingsford bag of charcoal caused my eyes to tear up..he was my own personal pit-master. ?
