Cracker Barrel for the Win…Biscuit Bennies!

It was perfect driving weather yesterday. The sun was shining with wispy white clouds. It was in the mid to high 80’s and perfect. We only had a couple of patches of bad traffic and we were so glad there were no accidents. We left home around 9:00AM and got into our hotel by 7:45PM. That’s with several stops along the way to stretch our legs and get a snack. We made sure we checked into our motel first, then headed to Cracker Barrel for supper. Mr. FixIt had fish and chips and collard greens. I love Eggs Benedict and had their version…a split biscuit with bacon, eggs, and Hollandaise sauce…a side of grits and fried apples with sweet tea. OMGosh! We are in the south, y’all…it was SO good but I swear I can feel my arteries crackling!

We were so tired last night…we just came in and crashed. I searched the web to find a good deal on a room. We have to stay over that first day driving down and I’d rather save my money for a nice dinner at the beach, so I looked for a bargain that Mr. FixIt would be proud of. The last few years, we’ve stayed at an old Howard Johnson near Busch Gardens. But the rooms are so rundown and get worse every year even though the prices get higher. This year we stayed at a motel that reminded me of my first night I ever stayed in a hotel of any kind. It was in Gatlinburg, Tennessee before it became trendy and upscale. I’ll tell you the name another time. As you know…I don’t divulge where were are staying while we are actually there for safety’s sake. But, it was clean, the staff was nice, and it only cost $65! I received the Mr. FixIt seal of approval.

A veritable traffic light! Who wants to shop for Fiesta Ware made right here in WV? We HAD to visit Tamarack Marketplace and Cultural Center near Beckley, WV….where you can see and buy some works of the finest artists from the Mountain State!

We’ll get up this morning and go to Capital Pancakes for breakfast then head on down to the Outer Banks. Mr. FixIt drove the last three hours yesterday so I could start knitting a pair of socks so my vacation is off to a great start! I love making memories with my sweetheart.
