My Noom lesson yesterday started delving into intuition vs. instinct and how we can train our minds and bodies to become more in tuned. If you are unsure the differences between the words, don’t feel bad. I’m a “wordie” and I wasn’t entirely sure of the absolute meaning either. Intuition is based on past experiences and is often expressed as a gut feeling. You just “know.” Instinct is a reaction… screaming at the sight of a mouse or jumping when someone scares you for example.
In my experience, there are many levels of intuition. I feel intuition is often times the Holy Spirit whispering a warning to be careful, or an affirmation that you’re going to be ok. I got both yesterday. I was heading out to help Mr. FixIt with something yesterday and got the nudge.
“You’re going to fall.”
That was alarming. But just as quickly I got “But, don’t worry…you aren’t going to get hurt. Sure enough, I stepped on a railroad tie and didn’t get my foot quite on it solid and down I went! It was the kind of fall we called a “garage sale” during my skiing days. It means stuff was flying everywhere…namely my arms and legs. And, just as the warning said, I didn’t get hurt. A little sore from moving in ways I’m unused to perhaps, but not hurt. I sure keep my Guardian Angel busy!
I had a nice time at knitting yesterday. There were three of us then a fourth came by to visit for awhile before she headed out of town for the holiday. One gal was working on a blanket with some incredibly thick yarn and knitting needles the size of broomsticks. The other gal was knitting a doll. I finished another hat for a christmas present. When I got home, I started another one.
A Star with a History
When I stuck my head out the door to call Mr. FixIt in for supper, he pointed with pride at his newest decoration… a lighted star hanging from our pergola. This star is an important piece of history in the town we grew up in. Some of my earliest memories surrounding Christmas was shopping downtown with my mom. Market Street was always decorated every year with either stars, trees, candles, or lanterns stretched across each intersection. These decorations were rotated around and ultimately phased out when they were no longer usable. Mr. FixIt’s dad owned the old Palace Theater in East End and somehow he managed to get one of the stars. It’s been in Mr. FixIt’s big building out back for years and I just found it recently. I asked him if he would hang it at Christmas and… there it is, in all its glory! After this holiday season, I’m going to see if I can get it to look like it did when it hung over the streets of Parkersburg.
In another little bit of good news, the part for the furnace is finally in and the furnace dude is coming today to put it in! Timely, as the temps are taking a nosedive in the coming days.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the week…spending time in the kitchen, decorating the tree, gathering with the family, watching football, and knitting. This is what I worked so hard all summer for!
