It’s Always Over Way Too Soon

Our View from the Camper Wednesday Evening

That trip was WAY too short. We were lucky we got reservations at all at Leith Run Campground. They sell out fast when the reservation window opens six months in advance of your stay. I love Site #11 because it’s right on the river and you are off in a corner. A few months ago, I looked on reservations.gov to see if there was on anything available there, and found three nights in our favored site so I grabbed it right away and so happy we got to go at all.

We had a big breakfast and sat out by the river for a while till it was time to pack up and head home. We stopped in Williamstown to dump our tanks at the rest area. It’s going to take some getting used to having such small tanks. It doesn’t take much to fill them up.

When we got home, the grass was SO long, so as soon as we unhooked, I was on the mower. The weather was perfect…partly sunny with a cool breeze. When I finished, I cooked hotdogs out in the camper and we set up our chairs in front just like we do at the campground. We might as well pretend camp since we have all this land to spread out on!

Mr. FixIt had to run to town for gas because I used the last of it in the mower. When he came back, he had the mail and waved me down. Do you remember when I bought that cute little camper that fell apart on the way to Colorado in 2019? Well, during my stay in Denver that trip, I lost my driver’s license. I went to the DMV and was able to get a temporary copy to get me home. Well, yesterday I received two things. A torn envelope in a clear plastic bag. And an envelope from the Postal Service in Charleston.

As best I can piece the story together, someone found my Driver’s License in Colorado and mailed it to me on September 17th, 2022…just a few days ago. Somehow, the letter got ripped open and my license was found loose in the mail in Charleston so the Postal folk put it in an envelope and sent it to me as well as the ripped envelope with an apology that it was in that condition without the contents.

So, where was my license for the last three years? It didn’t look any worse for the wear. It looked exactly like it did the day I took it out of my wallet to show my ID to enter the high school where my daughter works. It probably got stuck in a lost and found somewhere and someone had the wherewithal to send it on to me. I’ve long since gotten a duplicate, but I thought it was pretty interesting that it finally made its way to me! If it could talk to me, what would it say???

We’re heading to the dealership today to pick up the Big Birdhouse. I’m sure there will be more stories ahead!
