Life and Dreams

Our week at the timeshare is almost always perfect. We may have a day or two of chilly, wet weather, but for the most part, it is usually in the 70’s with sunshine. That’s not exactly the same this year. We are looking at mostly sunny days, but our warmest day will be in the mid to high 60’s. The rest will be a mixed bag of rain and 50’s to low 60’s. But, like Mr. FixIt says…a bad day at the beach beats mowing any day!

We had a leisurely morning then went out to do a little sightseeing in the afternoon. We went to the Wright Brother’s Memorial and wandered around for a while. We drove up the coast road and stopped at the Avalon Pier to check out fishing opportunities. The wind was whipping and really cold, but we braved a walk out to take pictures and a short video.

We stopped to pick up a couple of things we forgot. I meant to get a box of Matzoh to make Matzoh Brei for breakfast one morning…one of my all time favorite meals to have during Passover. (I wrote about it when we were here in 2019! You can read how to make it HERE!)

We stopped for a late lunch salad and headed back to the condo for our afternoon siesta. I love being retired. And I love having the freedom to go places. We’ll camp a lot more this year since we have the Big Birdhouse. We have to do these things while we can. If Mr. Virgo’s death taught me anything, it’s that you cannot wait to enjoy your life and be happy. There may never be a perfect time to do that thing you’ve always wanted to do or go to that place you’ve always wanted to see. Maybe resources and responsibilities preclude you from living out that exact dream. However, there’s nothing that says you can’t adjust your dreams and do something that DOES fit.

I’ve been saying “life is short” for ten years now. If I say it for another ten…or twenty, God willing…it’s STILL short. We are but a breath…a little blip in time. We are here to love and serve God and steward those gifts He gives us. Life is ultimately simple, yet complex. Easy, yet challenging. Peaceful, yet often stress inducing. I know I’m not the only one feeling the extra stresses of life in the last couple of years. All the more reason to carve out the moments that bring you joy and peace.

(Thank you for sharing, Zeke!)

This side of heaven is hard work sometimes…but oh, the rewards when we get to our Heavenly home will be well worth the things we go through here.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”

2 Corinthians 5:10 ESV
