Little Melts My Heart

Little Has Taken Archery Lessons Before

We took our time leaving the park yesterday. We said our long goodbyes to all the girlfriends who were camping with us. They all complimented Little saying how sweet, fun, and polite this little powerhouse of mine is. Makes a Nana proud of her 14-year-old Little Bear. We drove down to the Pioneer Village which was open from Noon to 3:00. I was excited to show Bear how they grind flour by water power. We picked up some things in the General Store. Little collects ladies fans and found a yellow one to match a new dress. We got a couple boxes of Cracker Jacks as a novel snack for later. I bought some grits, yellow and blue cornmeal, and two bags of buckwheat flour. We’ll have some tasty treats today.

Little and I laughed at the “Toasted Marshmallows”!

When we got home, Little helped us empty the truck and jumped in the shower without too much prompting. You remember how 14-years-olds are, right? I remember having to tell them to shower…with soap…AND water. Dry off. Hang up the towels. TOWELS…plural… because you know they’re going to use at least three…or more! One to stand on. One to wrap around their hair. And at least one to dry off with…maybe more. lol

Little Was Fascinated With the Blacksmith

As we drove home, Little sighed and said… “This has been so much fun, Nana. Can I come back again next summer?” Be still my heart. If she still wants to spend time with me at 15, I’ll take it! I’ll take any time with her. Being a Nana is the best of all worlds. You are a cross between a Fairy Godmother and a Super Hero to your grandkids. And, after their visit, you send them home to their mommy and daddy. But…oh…during that precious time with them, you can pour so much into their little hearts and minds that they will never, ever forget. I wish Big wasn’t “too big” to spend time with me. Maybe someday, when she realizes how finite life is, she may. In the meantime, I will savor every moment as the precious gift it is.

We “camped” in TOW-Wanda again last night.

One more sleep…and she’ll be gone.
