Mr. FixIt and I both have full calendars this week. I’m over at the farm, continuing to clear things out and make it presentable for an open house on the 12th and he’s at the Ponderosa, getting the family room ready for the new carpet that’s being installed on Friday. He’s also preparing to put in an electric line from the building to the deck so we can hang our strings of market lights on the pergola.
I have all the old blankets bagged up to take to the Humane Society for the doggos. They’ll love having comfy, clean bedding while they’re waiting for their furever homes. All the things that are being thrown away from the “Girl’s Room” upstairs have been bagged and piled on the back porch, waiting for another load to go to either the Ponderosa or the dump. Most of the items from the “Boy’s Room” have been staged to either pack or bag up as trash. Then, the only thing I have left to do is vacuum and the upstairs is finished.
Next on the list is the basement. Oy! That’s something I’m not looking forward to because it is an absolute mess down there. So much has already been hauled out, but there’s still WAY too much down there. Not all of it is mine, of course…but I’ll get it as organized as I can and throw obvious trash away.
I swore when I was finished downsizing at my house I would never do this again. Not only am I doing it for the farm…we also have to do it at the Ponderosa. Once we have the farm taken care of, there won’t be that mowing hanging over our heads once or even twice a week. That’s going to free up a bunch of time for us.
My Mother’s Day was lovely. Everyone either called or texted their greetings. It was a dreary, rainy day so I was just as happy spending it indoors finishing up the last week of this project. Saturday, however, was STELLAR! The sky was an amazing blue with big puffy white clouds. I walked around and snapped some photos with the freshly mown grass. Grandma’s rhododendron are popping out a little more every day. I’m going to take some of the flowers over to the Ponderosa with me. I remember when Grandma brought some of them up from Aunt Myrt’s house and planted them on the hillside. She LOVED her posies. And now I’ll love them. I can propagate them and share with the cousins later.
I knitted for a while in the afternoon. The pattern for this shawl is such a booger to follow. I count the stitches after every row and I cannot tell you how many rows I’ve ripped out because they aren’t coming out right. Grrrrr. My friend Gail told me to use stitch markers, but I haven’t had time to go to town to get some. I know I could use safety pins, but I have packed those. So, I’m doing the best I can while still enjoying the process.
Today’s agenda? The taxes. Finally!

“And thus you shall greet him: ‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.”
1 Samuel 25:6 ESV
Little scraps of yarn can be used as stitch markers in a pinch. The Farm House is so adorable, I can only imagine the emotions you are going through right now.

Screen doors that creek and go slap…my mom loved that noise. I asked hubby for One as well in our house so enjoy the opening with a slight creek the slap shut. It’s the little things that fall silent…
