More Surprises!

Playing with the light. “Wedding Pumpkin on Knitting”

I got home from my camping trip in the late afternoon. Mr. FixIt was so glad to see me, but he was so stoved up from putting in the new garage door on Thursday that he could barely move. This frustrates him tremendously because he is a real go getter. But, between the two mini strokes and the back pain of the last three years, he’s gotten way out of the habit of working that hard. So he’s going to pay for it for the next couple of days, I’m afraid. I don’t mind doing all the hooking up and unhooking anyway. It keeps my skills sharp and it’s good exercise.

My lovely book from one of our readers….Knit, Pray, Share!

After the news, I drove over to our little village and checked the Post Office Box and there was a package from one of our readers. She and I had discussed the merits of knitting. She bought a book to learn from and decided it had my name written all over it so she popped it in the mail for me! What a kind gesture. I am going to save it to read on our camping trip next week as I sit on the banks of the Ohio River.

Hand knitted slippers with a Wedding Pumpkin and Apple.

Gail gave me a pair of slippers she knitted for me to wear in the camper to keep my toes warm during these chilly fall evenings. The last three nights have been in the mid to low 40’s! That makes for good sleeping weather if you have enough blankets. I also have the electric blanket on the bed so I was toasty warm. It’s crazy…the first night camping I just had the windows open. The second night I had the AC on! Then the last three were “three dog nights!” As I was preparing to leave the campground yesterday, here came Gail with the most beautiful potted mums! I’ll take pictures today and post them tomorrow.

Chicken in the Woods. This is actually an edible fungus. There are recipes! Yeah….that’s a big nope from me. That looks like something my grandma told me to stay away from. lol

I stopped at the Pig when I was in town and picked up some fresh ginger root. Gail and Jan both have Ginger and Honey Tea every morning and that just sounded delightful. Not to be left out…I got some for myself and I’ll let you know what I think.

Another one of Gail’s misty morning photos. “The Grande Dame!” A stately old sycamore tree in the campground.

I was thrilled to get home and find the kitchen exactly as I left it! Mr. FixIt is awesome! And now I’m whupped. I’ll write more tomorrow!
