Nailed It!

Have you ever seen those posts online where they show something really cute that someone made and someone else tries to make it and it just turns out abysmal? Well, I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I try not to mess up…but man, I sure did yesterday! I made those little Christmas stockings earlier in the week by altering a pattern for a larger size. I thought they were maybe a little bit too small, so I decided to make the original size.

It took me four hours to make the components and put them together. When I finished the first one, I really didn’t like it, but I had the pieces of the other one made so I went ahead. Then, when I turned it right side out, all I could do is laugh. I attached the heel all the way around and the toe made a cup. It was so ridiculous.

Some days are like that. You try your best and things still don’t work out. I could have been upset or moped around about it, but what good would that do? I could have gone downstairs and made more stuff, but being tired and maybe a little disappointed in the lost efforts would not have helped. In fact, it might have just made matters worse. So, I put it away and sat in the living room with Mr. FixIt and watched old MONK reruns and Thursday Night Football.

All is right with the world and there’s always tomorrow. I put my Etsy shop on vacation mode till after the first of the year. It was getting too close to Christmas to guarantee on-time deliveries and I need a break with my family and friends. I’ll still be here, writing my posts. But..there may be some days when I share something from the archives. My theme for this holiday season is to keep it low key. No stress, no last minute rushing around. Just listen to my intuition and go where it takes me.

That sounds like a lot more fun, doesn’t it?

”The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.“
