RE-LAX-A-SHUN

Yesterday was a “self-care” day. I slept like a log and woke up at 9:00. What a treat! Mr. FixIt came out to the camper and asked if I wanted to go with him to take the truck to get the tires changed, then head off with Ben & Sue to buy a mirror for their new bathroom. As much as I love them all…I declined. I wanted to stay home and chill.

I was going to do laundry. It was in the truck. Cool!

I wanted to find a file that I’d put on Ben & Sue’s computer, but when they upgraded to a new computer, the file went out with the trash. That was fine, too.

I surfed a little on my phone and read the news. Boring.

What could I do that would be fun AND productive? Ahhhh…I remembered there was still some buttermilk leftover from the biscuit baking lesson the day before. So, I pulled out the ingredients and Little’s Biscuit Bowl and whipped up another batch. I’m getting pretty good at it now. The biscuits had just a few more minutes left to bake when Sue texted to see if I wanted something from Dickey’s BBQ. I told them if they brought it home to eat, there would be hot biscuits fresh from the oven. They hurried home and we ate all but two of them with some yummy BBQ! It was divine…if I do say so myself!

Daughter #2 asked me to come over after work yesterday to look at some china she inherited to see if it was worth keeping. She and her stepsister inherited their grandmother’s china. I use the term loosely. One set was clearly purchased as premiums from a grocery store. The other was ok, but dated. to make matters worse, when the dishes were shipped to them, the sets were mixed together so that there wasn’t a complete set of either pattern.

My daughter is not a china kinda gal. Her life is as simple as she can possibly make it. Her stepsister didn’t want the dishes either. I suggested she donate them to a charitable resale shop. My research showed there really wasn’t a market for any of it.

I picked up my two decorative presents my daughter has held onto for the last two years…one was a camper-shaped bird feeder and the other was a decorative teardrop shaped camper for my collection. I don’t think I need anymore little camper tchotchkes now. I don’t have the room for more. These are so cute though and thoughtfully purchased.

When I got back to Ben and Sue’s, I did what little laundry I had left in the truck and called it a day. It was so relaxing and peaceful. One more sleep and we head back east. The kids come back over tonight to tell us goodbye one last time. Bittersweet.

“And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.”
