Every New Year’s Eve I come up with a new word to focus on for the coming year. I have been mulling words over for the last several days. At first I was going to choose “adventure” but that didn’t seem to encompass all that it could. It seemed limited to travel and that’s not all I do.
This is going to be a really big year. Yes…I’ll be traveling a good bit. And yes, much of it will be with TOW-Wanda. But there are other things happening. BIG things!
First off, I’m launching a website which is very exciting. One of the biggest problems I find with Marshmallow Ranch being housed on Facebook is accessibility to older posts. We have people here who lost their loved one last week and we have some whose loss was decades ago. I’m closing in on the 4th anniversary of Mr. Virgo’s death. I’m not in the same space I was three…two…or even one year ago. When new people tune in, I’d love to have a menus where they can just click “Year One” or “Year Two” and then read things that are more pertinent to what they’re going through. The new writing helps provide hope that there will be joy again, but it isn’t easy to relate to the ship when what you need is a rope.
Also, I’ve been exploring the idea of creating my own podcast show. I have a couple of friends who are encouraging me, as well as my agent. To be honest, in this day and age, publishers want to see an author with a ready made following before they jump and publish anything for them. I need a larger social media presence if I’m ever going to make this thing fly the way I feel it can. These are steps I can take that will help boost that and help Marshmallow Ranch become more discoverable in the search engines. This is all about “expanding my territory” as Jabez pled to God. If this is supposed to happen, God will make it so.
