I told you all I was going to drive the route that takes you through the tunnel that goes under the Chesapeake Bay and I was a little nervous about it. Well, I pulled off at the last exit before the tunnel and stopped at the biggest Walmart I have ever seen to visit the ladies room. When I pulled back out on the road, I said a quick prayer and asked Jesus to come ride along with me. I opened my eyes and started laughing when I read the license plate on the car in front of me.
“Well played, Jesus! Well played, indeed.”
I realized there really wasn’t anything to worry about. After all, the Eisenhower Tunnel is longer and I go through that without a thought. And what about the Moffat Tunnel on the train, right? Now, THAT’S a tunnel!
I drove for three hours or so but since I’d been up since 4:30, I pulled into one of my favorite rest areas and climbed in the camper for a two hour nap.
Just past Charlotte, the traffic on I-64 came to a complete stop. For nine miles we just crawled along. I got to Waynesboro and pulled into a Cracker Barrel parking lot at dusk and slipped into one of the RV spots. I went in and ordered a salad and came out to talk with the gals camping next to me. They were the BEST and we had so much fun talking. There’s a bar nearby that’s playing loud music but that won’t last forever!
I’ll be home tonight!!!
