About twelve or thirteen years ago, one of my friends lost her husband after a brief illness. Three of us decided to take her to Mexico where she could unwind and let her hair down. How that woman found the strength to do that, I will never know because we went less than a week after the funeral! I cannot imagine how she survived that.
While we were staying at this beautiful, all-inclusive resort, we had access to every possible recreation. One day, we decided to take a sailing lesson. We hopped on a small Hobie Cat and quickly learned how to zip back and forth. I took to sailing like a duck to water, so to speak. My friends soon tired of the whole thing and I dropped them off on shore then headed back out to sea. I really stretched my boundaries that day.
Stretching my boundaries is something I strive to do on a regular basis. I’m finding, the more I stretch, the bigger my world gets. And the bigger my world gets, the more I have to stretch to reach out for new horizons. One thing begets the other begets the other. Public speaking is my brass ring of choice currently and I’m always looking for new opportunities.
Things are going well here at the farm. My neighbor across the road gave me some red bell peppers last night. The cats are fat and happy. I’ll work on the gutters today. It’s been so cold I had to turn the furnace on last night! I brought sheets and blankets in from the camper. I bought a memory foam topper for the mattress. I pulled out my mom’s quilt to put on the bed. I am heading to a family wedding this weekend. The Internet and Wi-Fi cellphone service works great. I’m a happy camper this week!
