Spring Ahead

Daylight savings time
“Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00am tomorrow!”

I sat down yesterday to browse my calendar when it struck me…it’s, like…MARCH! Not only that, it’s over a week into it already. This winter was SO much easier to take so I have to think about what I’ve done differently and do it again next year.

We kept the tree up. Ok…it’s STILL up. It’s not decorated but no one who comes out our road and sees the white lights twinkling through the window really knows that. I love the white lights. They make me happy and if that’s all it takes, then I’ll leave the darned tree up all year round! Ok. I’m not going that far. Maybe it should come down tomorrow. After all, tomorrow night when we go to bed, we turn the clocks forward and Daylight Savings Time begins. I think that should be the new benchmark…the tree goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving and comes down when we spring forward!

I spent the entire month of February out in TOW-Wanda. You have no idea what that did for me. My mood stayed up and I felt like I was camping, even though I was out in the field and didn’t actually sleep in the camper. So, I guess this means I have to write a book every February from now on. That works for me!

The writing itself kept my mind occupied and off the fact that we were in that long, dreary stretch of wasteland called winter. I poured myself into my book and before I knew it, 75,000+ words had poured out of my fingers.

We planned and executed projects around the house. Having goals helped make the time pass more quickly.

All of these things kept me looking forward and boosted my spirits. I took breaks away and spent time at the farm which is always my happy place and helped immensely. We have a lot of fun things planned in the coming months. There’s going to be camping trips and gatherings with my friends. My niece is graduating from college in Indiana. We’re going to meet my son-in-law’s parents at our time share in the Outer Banks. We’re going to fit a trip to Florida in there somewhere. We have friends in South Carolina and Tennessee that we want to see. My daughter is getting married in August in Colorado. And we have a new great grandchild coming around the time we get back from the wedding.

It is going to be a fun and busy summer and those are the months I want time to slow down to a crawl!

Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead tonight when you go to bed. We’re heading into spring time!!!! ❤️

  1. I call January & February my hibernation time. My son passed away the day after Christmas, 2012. Holidays take their toll. Although, we’re still getting an enormous amount of rain in North Alabama, trees are budding, blooms are blooming. Life begins again. God bless you, Ginny, for your encouraging words. They go straight to my heart.

    1. I am so sorry for the loss of your precious son, Johnnie. I can’t imagine losing a child. My heart is with you, dear one. Here’s to Spring and new beginnings! ❤️
